Review on SHURFLO 255 313 Twist Pipe Strainer by Frank Bruton

A cottage that draws water from a lake and can sometimes suck in grains of sand or other small debris that can cause problems in the faucet, fill valve, toilet tank or non-return valve on the pump. I was hoping to find this in a 3/4" size to fit my water line and pump inlet fittings, but I didn't list a 3/4" fixture so I had to use 3/4" to 1/2 in. The promotional information for this filter claimed that it "screws directly onto the pump head," which seems to indicate that the male pipe thread side goes to the pump inlet, but the arrow on the body pointing in showing the correct direction of water flow shows that it is actually the reverse. The round wire mesh screen works well with water coming from any direction, as I would Udu use this in the opposite direction to the intended direction. In fact, it may be easier to use the Seeing dirt collecting between the strainer and the plastic bowl than seeing it inside the strainer The bowl unscrews easily to remove dirt and its compact height allows the Mon days on a floor pump. I connected the strainer to a 1/2" x 3/4" quick release cam switch that allows me to easily disconnect and store the pump during the winter months when not in use.
