Review on iTOMA CKS507: Dual Alarm Digital FM Radio πŸ“» with Cell Phone USB Charge Port and Night Light by Robert Tyus

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Looks lovely but the radio functions are unintuitive

I really wanted to love this clock radio but between skipping manual programming steps and the frustration I experienced in actually using the radio I had to tap the stars out. I would give 3.5 stars if I could. We spent over an hour figuring out how to program the radio presets. The trick the manual omits is that you have to press STO again at the end of each sequence. So select your transmitter, then STO, then select a preset position (1-10) and then press STO again. Without that last step, you're going insane. Woman wanted to throw it out the window! I can't tell you how many times we went through all the steps on all 10 presets only to find out they were all on the same station! If you decide to buy it, you should use radio presets as navigating between stations without them is a very slow process. On the plus side, it looks very nice and the numbers are very pleasing to the eye. I was also pleasantly surprised that it has an auto dimming function with a built-in light sensor. Setting the alarm clock is quite simple and works perfectly. It starts very quietly and gets louder until you react. In summary, here are my pros and cons: Pros: looks good, auto dimming with light sensor, 3 levels of brightness, white LEDs are easy on the eye, USB charger works great with my iPhone and iPad, built-in night light, date and time become automatic set, the day of the week is displayed below. The price is not bad for a clock radio with such features. Cons: Management is terrible and lack of steps. Setting up radio station presets is very cumbersome and non-intuitive. Switching radios without presets is very slow (I didn't find a scan function), the USB charger is on the back, it would be better in the front and even better if there were two of them. No AM radio - may be important to some.
