This is a test of two 24 " twin packs.

I think there are a lot of reviews here and this is a problem because some "solutions" for some ailments are not available on all screens. I have to say right away that I've had 3 Dell displays that I've been very happy with. Two of these were 1080p monitors showing the timeline and one was/is a 4K monitor showing the full picture via a Blackmagic card. Then one of the monitors failed and since they were discontinued I replaced both monitors with a newer Dell UltraSharp 24 as a new replacement model. The problem with the new Dells was that the black levels were very poor and there was nothing to adjust for. Customer service was even worse. Lots of automation, and when the real person finally showed up, they didn't know the difference between pixel resolution and black level. Then someone gave me a new HP Z23 and I compared them. This HP was a perfect match for the new Dell screens. Crisp and beautiful, but poor black levels. No problem for gaming or general computing, but not suitable for color calibration of movies and videos. That's how I ended up here at ViewSonic monitors. I have to say right away that the black level is fine! They fit my old 4K Dell. The colors of one of them also matched right out of the box. But there is no other and that's one of the reasons I'm removing 2 stars. One screen had a slight bluish cast. And yes, I've read comments on other reviews complaining about the bluish cast. This is NOT an issue with the blue light filter or uniformity. Two monitors from the same box are calibrated differently. The solution for me was to switch the monitors from "native" to SMPTE color. So they fit together and also fit the Dell 4k monitor. I just don't think they should be natively incompatible. Second, I agree with another reviewer that the buttons are silly. You are right behind. This isn't easy to achieve in a multi-monitor setup, and it's generally quite difficult to make adjustments. Buttons would be much better at the bottom! Thirdly, between Dell, HP and ViewSonic, I have to say that ViewSonic has the best black levels, but it's also the cheapest. The whole monitor feels plasticky and cheap compared to others. They're all about the same price, so ViewSonic should raise it a bit. Finally, the viewing angles are worse than those of the competition. The fall off in black is very noticeable around the edges. This is especially noticeable on the home screen. So without the bolder blacks this would be the worst monitor I've ever tried, but it seems it's become difficult to get a monitor with good black levels so I'll have to use it for now. I hope that next time it's time to buy OLED monitors, they'll be the affordable standard. This should solve most problems. I hope this has helped some of you save some money (wish someone would have told me all this before I ordered Dell monitors).
