Review on SanDisk Extreme Go 64GB USB 3.2 Type-A Flash Drive - SDCZ810-064G-G46 by Mod Kindred

Revainrating 5 out of 5

SanDisk quality - and good sequential speed - but random read/write not so good

Overall this is a really good flash drive. It looks good, the primary drive itself is brushed aluminum and the "lid" and hinge are black plastic. And it's certainly fast in certain metrics - even with the 64GB model I get close to the rated read speed of 390MB/s+ sequential reads. Now the smaller model is definitely slower on sequential writes (more in the 75MB/s range) which is still fast and most of it is the capacity itself - larger drives are just faster and the speeds quoted are for the larger model, so your mileage may vary. Now for the cons. Well, using it as a storage device (as intended) is fast, but it definitely falls behind on random reads and writes - random reads and writes were 95% slower than sequential ones. Some of that makes sense - this device is meant to be used as removable storage, not for running apps - but it's still disappointing that it's so slow. Second, the retract/extend mechanism is very difficult to operate until you figure out how to operate it (push on the back of the aluminum actuator itself to unlock and retract). In between I deduct a star. But otherwise it's good to drive!
