This tripod is very strong and the 3-way head provides very precise control of camera positioning. My previous tripod slowly drifted with every setting except the lightest. Positioning my D750+Sigma 150-500 (>6lbs) was particularly difficult. With this setup, this tripod works like a rock. The friction in the head can be adjusted to control movement. All legs can be positioned independently to achieve the desired configuration. They can be opened wide to get very close to the ground (which was useful when photographing snowflakes). The 90 degree center column is also useful for macro photography and photographing art projects/documents from above. I caught my toe a few times when fixing the legs, but that's just my problem. The tripod itself is a bit heavier, but I knew that when I ordered it. With a load capacity of over 17 pounds it's all worth it and when I need a lighter tripod I still have my flimsy old tripod. All in all, it's definitely worth the price!
