My problem with this strap was that the end went through the locking knot. I squeeze the lever very hard to get the end of the strap through. They seem strong enough, but I don't attach anything to the roof of my SUV. I use them to attach a portable refrigerator (BougeRV) to the back seat and a collapsible aluminum hand truck (Wesco 220646) (both products are excellent). To take it off I just have to undo the straps. I think I would go insane if I had to feed the ends every time. Like others, I trimmed the excess tape and used a hammer while heating the new end to flatten the ends more. This made feeding a little easier, but it would be better if the cam opened up a little more.
