I had high hopes for this but was completely disappointed. I bought this for my desktop PC, Specs: Win 10 ProAsus Sabertooth MoboGTX 98032GB Corsair Vengeance Ram500GB SSD5Ghz 8 Core AMD Netgear N9000 Nighthawk Internet Router Gigabit Fiber exactly as instructed. I started installing the Windows 10 driver from the hard drive and then rebooted the system. I plugged the device into one of my USB 3.0 ports, it turned on and seemed to work. I connected to my 5GHz WiFi network. After that, the device disconnected and reconnected to my system (as if I had unplugged it and plugged it back in). It seemed to work again and I was connected to my 5GHz network. My router is compatible with Wireless AC. I was hoping for at least 300 Mbit/s. In the properties of my adapter it said that I was connected to the local network with a speed of about 350 Mbit/s. I was happy with it, but it's a lot smaller than advertised and I'm not far from my router (signal strength was full too). This is where the real problems began. Finally, it's time to run Speedtest.net to see what kind of internet connection I have. I open Chrome, go to the URL and run the test. My ping came back at 7ms (fairly normal) and the download test began. The dart jumped up to about 120Mbps and crawled up, but then the adjusted one disconnected from my system again. I found that every time it was stressed, the network adapter would crash and disconnect from my system. I've tried this dozens of times after restarting my computer. Not wanting to give up at this point, I removed the drivers I had installed from the disc and started over on a different USB 3.0 port. Exactly the same results. Any load on the device will lead to failure. At this point I thought the driver might be out of date, so I turned to various forums for answers. One person suggested disabling the USB Selective Suspend settings; it does not work. I tried to use the driver provided by Windows. It seems worse than on disk. The adapter has failed with no load. I've been trying several drivers I found on Google for a few hours - none of them worked. This device is recognized as a Realtek 8812AU by my system, so I've searched all the Realtek websites for drivers but haven't found anything. I tried all my USB 3.0 ports. I tried installing drivers for earlier versions of Windows. Bad luck. I should also mention that when this device was plugged into my system, my computer refused to uninstall its drivers. The Device Manager dialog gets stuck at "Uninstall". I had to restart my computer for it to work. I've been trying to get this to work for 5 hours and I'm here to say DO NOT BUY. Just buy a well-known branded item, which is most likely plug and play.
