Not the best at depth best in marine electronics

Unfortunately on Lake Michigan we found that the sonar was quite inaccurate. We wanted this to be a quick option as our sonar needs repairs and we need to know the exact depth to anchor and it will read 8ft then 15ft in the same spot. Since we don't fish and I only bought it to measure depth, I can't comment on the accuracy of finding fish.
