Bought this for my dad to use on his arthritic knees and back. It's easy to throw in the microwave and heat up. It takes a couple of minutes, turning it in between, to really get it nice and warm but once it is, it provides great comfort. My Dad says it really helps with his pain and as an added bonus, it warms him up on chilly days. I put it in his bed, too, to get it toasty before he lays down.I bought this to replace an old heating pad he used. Although this cools down after 30 minutes or so and needs to be reheated, it's more convenient and safer than plug-in varieties. No bending over to plug it in, no cords to trip over and it can be taken anywhere regardless of whether or not there's an outlet close by. This product is a good value and seems to be very well made. Unless it surprises me and fails soon, I'd purchase another.
