Love this camera but still learning its features

I have had this camera for almost 10 months now and love it. I'm still learning the different settings and what they all do. I usually shoot a lot with auto, but have started expanding it to explore more. The only thing I want to learn is how to photograph light at night. I have set up a truly amazing outdoor laser light and I cannot for the life of me bring it to the point of appearing to see it with my own eyes. Not even close. However, I get great shots on other objects. I use this camera every day and love most of the pictures I can take with it. I need a new tripod as the cheap tripod I bought broke. Now let's move on to finding a better quality tripod. I wish this camera was different than the SD slot. Having it where the batteries are is extremely inconvenient! That means if it's on a tripod and I want to remove the card to transfer images, I have to remove it from the tripod. I want them to make a slit for it on the side. It's the same with batteries. VERY inconveniently located. Another problem I have is that sometimes it gets blurry when recording videos. Sometimes it isn't and sometimes it is and I can't figure out why. It fades in and out of focus a bit, not much but enough that it's right sometimes when I don't want it to. As I said, I'm still learning with it, so I don't know if it's related to the setting I set it to, which I have control over, or if it really is the camera. I see several negative reviews that don't really describe what issue they are having with the camera itself. I see many general claims that are simple user errors and not an actual fault of the camera itself. Such a shame. All in all, I think it's a great educational camera, which is what I do. It's definitely better than my pocket camera and not as good as a high end camera. I especially liked that I didn't have to change lenses. I don't know anything about such things and what lens to use when. So it will help me to know what I'm hoping for and then I can move on to a better camera that will help me get the pictures I want. So far this has been a fantastic camera for me and a huge improvement over my Panasonic Lumix 6x DMC-LZ7. This camera is undeniably good for what it is and I still use it to this day when I don't want to carry it around as it fits in my bag very well. It is imperative that this camera be worn around the neck or in a carrying case. Bought this camera for personal use. It seems silly to include this in reviews now, but it is what it is.
