Review on Logan 5000 🔪 8-Ply Beveled Mat Cutter by Kristen Simpson

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Disappointing

Let me start with some self-criticism. I definitely underestimated cutting 8-ply boards. However, this cutter made the task even more difficult. There were all sorts of issues and it took me a while before I could cut the page straight and in one pass. But for a successful cut you must be able to cut all four sides. I spent a few boards and I'm still struggling. A few things: * The cutter has 2 lines (green and red). I don't know which one to use when I start cutting as they both start cutting too soon or too long. * I had no light. * Knife blades wear out very quickly. A pair is bent, a pair is broken, etc.* It takes a lot of force to cut. Mainly because you have to put a board underneath because my cutting board doesn't support the depth and angle of an 8-ply blade. Basically it has a double resistance. (see update, now I know why it happened) * It took me a while to find the right depth. Spent over $50 on boards with errors, even after training. I thought. If you place it too low, you risk cutting too deep into the corners. He should just checkmate. It took me a while to figure it out and a few tries to find the right "depth" * The cutter has a red line and a green line. You need to line up the green line where you want to start the cut and stop the cut when the red line lines up. With the right depth of your blade, this works well. * You must put a 4-ply thick cardboard/mat under the mat to be cut. If you don't, the blade will cut into the cutting board due to the angle and depth of the blade. And when that happens, you damage your board, but it also costs more energy to cut. I had a piece of 8-ply carpet under the carpet that I cut, but it was too tall for my cutting board. I have updated my rating to 3 stars. Not 4 or 5 because Logan could explain it a little better and the editor isn't as easy as I thought. If you want to use this product, you should definitely watch the YouTube video!
