Works perfectly with knives and carpet blades

I have been a fine art photographer for many years and do my own framing and framing. This is my first time using a Logan 5000 carpet cutter and it worked great. I've read other people's reviews, it sounds like most people have issues. I haven't had this problem. I made sure I was using a #271 blade and that the depth was set correctly and that the 5000 cut 8 layers like butter.

Used items are sold as new

Item arrived in clearly used condition, scratched and marked (see image), with sticky goo on one of the buttons. I tried to return it but before it was taken I noticed the price had dropped from 54 to 70 so I quickly canceled the return and I have to live with this old used item. Very disappointing Revain! 271 blades can be resharpened with Work Sharp's 12.5ยฐ angle (fine grit tape) or even just Arkansas stone and reused for extended periods of time.

Practice is great!

I am an artist with some experience making mounts and frames. I wanted to save frames for the show so I decided to frame all 23 pieces myself. Due to an oversight on my part I bought an 8 ply mat board instead of a 6 ply so I had to buy that to cut the mats. As with any mat cutter, YOU MUST GET USED TO IT before you can accurately cut windows. The start/stop markers are actually more of a guide and may change depending on a number of factors such as: B. how far the blade is exposed, what brandโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Primarily designed for cutting 8-ply mats.
Cons
  • socket required.

Disappointing

Let me start with some self-criticism. I definitely underestimated cutting 8-ply boards. However, this cutter made the task even more difficult. There were all sorts of issues and it took me a while before I could cut the page straight and in one pass. But for a successful cut you must be able to cut all four sides. I spent a few boards and I'm still struggling. A few things: * The cutter has 2 lines (green and red). I don't know which one to use when I start cutting as they both start cuttingโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Model 5000 has an ergonomic handle with adjustable nylon rails for use with various Logan rulers and carpet cutters
Cons
  • faded

Logan 5000 mat cutter option?

So I finally got some more experience cutting carpet and settled on a Logan 5000, supposedly the perfect 4/8 ply cutter. I've researched the Logan website and elsewhere and I like the "interact light" feature as well as the easy to change blade holder for 4 or 8 ply mats. I even watched a video demo of the 5000 on the Logan website so I had a pretty good idea of the model 5000's features and operation. So my new Logan 5000 cutter arrived today and it's NOT the same as the one I bought I bought.

Pros
  • Equipped with a depth-adjustable magnetic blade magazine.
Cons
  • drilling package.
