It failed in less than three months.
The drive has not been recognized in less than three months. It spins and sounds normal, but neither Windows sees it nor the WD software nor the Linux kernel via lsusb. So I conclude that the internal bridge adapter (which converts USB to SATA) has failed. You can't even disassemble the case and connect the drive to SATA because the jumper is built into the drive, which is very consumer-friendly. so i screwed it up Buyers beware, avoid this product.
