Review on BLACK+DECKER BDCMS20C Lithium-Powered Sander by Edwin White

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good, but the design needs to be adjusted

I bought this grinder because I needed an extra battery for my other tools and the price was right to get the grinder for free compared to a battery. Now that I have it I think I will find many uses for it. My first impressions are pretty positive so far. The device is small and light, but still feels powerful enough for an app. It seems well built for a low level tool. Some of the other reviews address this and they are right, this is due to the rather small battery capacity so it doesn't last very long between charges. I don't care how I use it. My two biggest complaints are design flaws. The whole attraction of the detail grinder is that it is compact and manoeuvrable. The position of the battery makes this device significantly larger than the corded model (you hold most of it on the top right of the sanding head). That doesn't make the device bad in any way, but I think in some tricky situations I'd prefer a smaller one. Second, the dust collector and the battery are too close together. I think that makes using it with a vacuum more difficult than traditional corded ones. On the plus side, this grinder sells a lot at Revain, making it incredibly affordable. The device is obviously more suited to home use, but as it is a detailing tool it should not be overused. It seemed like a good time to get a cheaper tool and save money to buy a contractor item for something else. Overall I was happy with it.

Pros
  • INTEGRATED DUST COLLECTOR. The easy-to-empty dust bag keeps the work area clean and improves worktop visibility.
Cons
  • I'll write later
