So, like everyone else, I had trouble installing a new SSD. My first Macbook Air is 2014. I did everything as everyone else described, or so I thought! Make sure you are updated to Catiline as OSX. There must be a firmware update that you need in Catinlina. Then when you turn off and install a new SSD, boot with COMAND OPTION R. DO NOT USE COMAND R! THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT FOR SOME REASONS, ONLY THE R COMMAND WILL NOT ALLOW DISK UTILITY TO SEE THE DISK! After booting properly, you can use Disk Utility to reformat the drive and then install OSX. It took me hours to figure it out. Hope this review helps someone else!
