It's that easy!

I popped this into my late 2013 MacBook Air this afternoon. Super easy install, then boot into recovery, format the drive in Disk Utility and reinstall macOS. It took me less than 45 minutes from picking up a screwdriver to using the new drive in macOS. Now I have almost 10 times more storage space. The speed seems to be the same if not better. Highly recommended, just make sure you know how to use Internet Recovery and you'll be fine.

  • Glitter
Cons
  • Almost everything is here

As another reviewer wrote: Use Command+Option+R to restore

. In order for it to work properly after installation, you need to restart your computer in Internet Recovery Mode - Command + Option + R. Lots of web instructions for this process. Then run Disk First Aid to format the SSD and then - in my case - restore it from my previous Mac's time machine backup. Lightning fast, low power consumption and so far so good, especially for the price.

Pros
  • . great for me
Cons
  • . There are new competitors.

This drive works great with my Mac Mini 2014 (mini7,1). I've had so many problems getting my OWC Aura drive to work properly (kept kicking out at random times). I was fed up and bought this CD. It worked right from the start and now my Mac Mini is super fast. Installation is also very easy as the drive interface is on the back. I bought the 821-00010-A PCIe SSD cable here https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07MDGDSYS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

to install pain. Best in Internal Solid State Drives

So, like everyone else, I had trouble installing a new SSD. My first Macbook Air is 2014. I did everything as everyone else described, or so I thought! Make sure you are updated to Catiline as OSX. There must be a firmware update that you need in Catinlina. Then when you turn off and install a new SSD, boot with COMAND OPTION R. DO NOT USE COMAND R! THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT FOR SOME REASONS, ONLY THE R COMMAND WILL NOT ALLOW DISK UTILITY TO SEE THE DISK! After booting properly, you can use Disk…

Excellent client-server and easy installation. Very important.

Customer service was excellent. I had a misunderstanding regarding the installation steps which a customer service representative helped me to solve. The representative answered my questions quickly and pointed me in the right direction. Basically, the mistake I made was trying to do the install process with only restoring from a backup. Since the new SDD driver is not installed by default, you MUST use the Internet installation method. After I switched to installing from the web, everything…

Couldn't use a mid 2013 MacBook Air

I purchased this disk to repair a mid 2013 MacBook Air that I received without an SSD. This SSD requires a Mac firmware update, which can only be done by booting into High Sierra OS (or higher). It's great that HS is already loaded, but not great if the disc itself isn't recognized. I tried to download the original image from the Internet (Mountain Lion) but the hard drive was not recognized. I then tried Internet Recovery to be able to select High Sierra (Option-Cmd-R) but I got a useless…

The drive works, the instructions cost one star.

I have my own computer shop so thought I'd post a review to help some people who are having trouble with this drive because we did. (Disclaimer, we're not a Mac shop, but we know enough to help people avoid using it.) A backup copy was made before cleaning the drive. We installed it on a 2014 Mac that matched the Mac compatibility list and wrestled with it for a day trying to figure out why the drive wasn't showing up in the available drives list. We used the /cmd/r solution like everyone else.

Pros
  • Decent performance

I recently bought this to fix my old Macbook. It worked great when I first installed it on the machine. After cleaning my macbook and doing some work to get rid of it. I formatted the drive as usual to remove information from it and reinstall the operating system, but was surprised to see that the drive no longer showed up in the Disk Utilities window afterward. I've tried a few different things to format it and even downloaded Linux Ubuntu to format it and tried to make the drive browsable on…
