Couldn't use a mid 2013 MacBook Air

I purchased this disk to repair a mid 2013 MacBook Air that I received without an SSD. This SSD requires a Mac firmware update, which can only be done by booting into High Sierra OS (or higher). It's great that HS is already loaded, but not great if the disc itself isn't recognized. I tried to download the original image from the Internet (Mountain Lion) but the hard drive was not recognized. I then tried Internet Recovery to be able to select High Sierra (Option-Cmd-R) but I got a useless error and couldn't proceed. I'm sure this drive would work fine if I had the FW update. To be fair, there is an ad that says "Mac OS X 10.13 High Sierra or later is required BEFORE and AFTER installation". Unfortunately, I was so excited about finding a drive that matched my model and EMC number that I smudged this small part. (I also didn't know what OS the machine had since it came without an SSD). I gave three stars as it was a waste of my time and I ended up sending it back. I think the seller could be more specific in their "compatibility" statement. Anyone with an older non-SSD computer (or a faulty SSD) will not be able to use this drive (unless they can run internet recovery or have used HS before).
