Review on Dataram 1TB NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD Upgrade for 2013-2016 MacBook, Mac Pro, Air, Mini, iMac by Michael Gutierrez

Revainrating 5 out of 5

SSD has stopped working with MacBook and is not supported by customer support.

I recently bought this to fix my old Macbook. It worked great when I first installed it on the machine. After cleaning my macbook and doing some work to get rid of it. I formatted the drive as usual to remove information from it and reinstall the operating system, but was surprised to see that the drive no longer showed up in the Disk Utilities window afterward. I've tried a few different things to format it and even downloaded Linux Ubuntu to format it and tried to make the drive browsable on Mac. It was unacceptable. I tried to email the company but got no response. At this point I have attempted to return it and there is a restocking fee as well as a shipping fee to the company. I'm only giving this 3 stars because it worked well, not very fast but good enough to use in a 2015 MacBook Pro. I only wish they had better customer service in resolving issues. If you are an average consumer and want a larger SSD for your Macbook I would consider going elsewhere and even if you are good with computers I would consider switching to a different SSD or just an adapter to buy separately and take a standard nvme ssd from another company with faster speeds. If you buy it just to plug it in and never touch it again, you'll be fine and likely have no problems.

Pros
  • Good thing
Cons
  • Too long to wait
