So first the pros, and there are several: This thing is pretty easy to install and use. You pop the NVME into the slot and screw it in place with the included screw (which I appreciate it's included as it's easy to lose the small screws that come with your motherboard, or maybe not even there if you just got it -Built-Shelf) and if you don't have a heatsink, plug the card into an available PCIe slot. Ready to go. No drivers were needed. I also have a Linux dual boot and will update if there are any issues. Cons: The heatsink is absolutely ridiculous. I'm not an engineer, but the drive can only go in one direction. Now it might depend on what drive you're using, but mine has the actual storage facing up after installation (actually, my drive looks pretty much the same in the picture showing the installation). . There is a problem here. You should attach the supplied thermal pad to the back of the drive. The back of the disc is basically a fiberglass laminate. It is NOT designed to conduct heat. Very little heat from the SSD is absorbed by the thermal pad, *especially* since you need both pads on the back to make full contact with and conduct the drive. Most if not all of the heat from your drive is dissipated by the chipset on top of the drive where you can see the sticker in the image above. As a result, the heatsink does very little work and transfers virtually no heat to your drive. I'd go as far as to say that putting a drive in a tiny black box with that little contact makes your drive noticeably hotter than if you weren't just using it as it's currently designed. I very much doubt these drives will get too hot, so I doubt this will seriously affect their performance or lifespan if you use them, but I see no reason to risk that. If you want to use a radiator, have fun. it's on. The back and lid are barely aligned and it doesn't want to stay in a straight position with 4 screw holes and close completely. The two screws on mine were basically 30 degree screws before I decided it was a stupid idea and gave up. I'm not saying it's not worth $13 or so dollars. Just remember that apart from a cleaner look, the heatsink is basically useless and useless. I'd rather pay a few bucks less for one of these without it, or a similar item that inserts into the drive on either side of the card. Finally, I would like to mention that after I ordered the item, it was not even shipped before it was supposed to arrive. It wasn't that the carrier was late. It didn't even get to the carrier before the expected arrival date. Given the current world circumstances, I will not be giving a star, but would appreciate a notification of a delay or if the expected arrival date reflects a possible delay. I ordered it partly because it used to be advertised as competing products.
