I've had several different styles over the years and I definitely prefer this "turkey smear" style with discs. Balloons don't have to have a lot of air bubbles attached to them to give an incorrect reading. The lever float must be perfectly level. The style here is my favorite. Solid plastic reading tube and bulb that fills the reservoir with one pressure. The onion is also much heavier than Grandma's onion. I had to add some silicone to the pickup tube to hold it in place but I can't secure the sprocket for this as some want the tube to be removable.
