Description of OEMTOOLS 24507 Professional Series Ethylene Glycol Antifreeze Tester: Evaluates Freezing Point of Antifreeze and Ensures Optimal Water/Coolant Ratio

WORKS WITH YOUR ENGINE HOT OR COLD: Disc-type tester is accurate at all temperatures; Tests your coolant’s freezing point and helps guard against coolant overprotection. EASY TO READ: Count the number of floating disks in the coolant tester and compare it to the chart on the body of the tester, which shows coolant freezing temperature in both Celsius and Fahrenheit; Five floating discs means ideal protection. PREVENTS OVERPROTECTION: Includes a special 6th disc which shows overprotection and a loss of coolant efficiency due to a bad water-coolant mix; Our antifreeze and coolant tester has you covered. Inconsistent Results

I like easy to read levels but the results are inconsistent. Once all 5 balls appear, the next time only 2. Tapping on the bubbles helps. The orange ball floated once and not the next time. Hm

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • Empty

Well made and very readable

It seems well made and easy to use. The only way to know if you are protected from winter frosts. It draws in enough coolant to get an accurate reading. I'm happy with that. Much easier to read than miniatures with tiny bullets.

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model

Only lasted 6 months

I had a green bulb, the new one is black. Can this cause my problem? Daily use in the shop. After a few months the bulb visibly cracked and the hose broke after just 6 months. Only 90 days guarantee. I would recommend trying another brand: GG - arbez

Garbage. Don't waste money.

This thing is garbage. He can't decide how many discs to levitate. First one, then three, then five, then all six, then one again, etc. He told me that all four of my rigs are anywhere from +25 to -34 or below. That is a big help. With the same success, you can use tarot cards. In addition, coolant flows everywhere from the squeeze bulb. You should offer a refund to anyone who made the mistake of making a purchase. OEM tools should be ashamed to even sell it. Find one like before, with a…

disappointing performance - unreliable readings

I had high hopes when it arrived - it was a solid tool that was well built. However, there is a leak where the hose enters the body of the device, so tiny air bubbles constantly flow through the flow meter when it is full, preventing the indicator discs from forming a discernible pattern. If I manage to squeeze/push/twist the tube properly and hold it long enough for the discs to seat (which isn't easy), the pattern will still be unreliable. I opened a brand new jar of a 50/50 commercial blend…

Pros
  • Great for outdoor activities
Cons

Does what is expected.

I've had several different styles over the years and I definitely prefer this "turkey smear" style with discs. Balloons don't have to have a lot of air bubbles attached to them to give an incorrect reading. The lever float must be perfectly level. The style here is my favorite. Solid plastic reading tube and bulb that fills the reservoir with one pressure. The onion is also much heavier than Grandma's onion. I had to add some silicone to the pickup tube to hold it in place but I can't secure…

Pros
  • SIMPLE AND POWERFUL: has a transparent body that makes it easy to check the coolant for contaminants such as rust; The all in one coolant test kit has a simple yet powerful design
Cons
  • No Instructions

Easy to use, easy to read and interpret results

The exterior markings on this unit are a nice dark black and do not appear to disintegrate when exposed to ethylene glycol or other automotive coolant components. The number of discs that float indicates up to what temperature your coolant mixture is good without the risk of freezing. The only downsides are: 1) No gauge (for those new to car maintenance AND cleaning) 2) The piston at the top seems quite large compared to the amount of coolant that has to be sucked in to take a reading . It's…
