Focusing is good and smooth

I'm giving five stars because this lens can do for the price. First, it's tiny! It would be tiny even if it were 35/2.5, but it's 1.2! Focusing is good and smooth. The aperture ring doesn't snap into place, but since it's on the back, there's little chance of accidentally changing the aperture. Focus travel is fairly short and the lens focuses quickly and easily when actually popping into the viewfinder. However, it's also easy to change focus unintentionally, so be careful with that. Also, not every lens is properly calibrated at infinity. It's easy to get confused as the lens can be pretty soft wide open, but luckily it's very easy to recalibrate, just google it and have a T2 screwdriver handy. The only thing I didn't like was the minimum focus distance. 0.35 m. As someone who likes close-ups, I am more comfortable with a size around 0.28 and that makes a difference for me. If you get a filter with it you will also need a new lens cap as the original keeps falling off. However, try to find such a feature set at this price point and I'm sure you won't. If you like 35mm FOV on APS-C, this lens should definitely be in your collection. If you want the finest depth of field and don't mind weight, size and price, get the Mitakon 35/0.95, but other than that, this chic pancake is hard to beat.
