Review on Square Schneider Electric QO2175SB SurgeBreaker by Davey Kamau

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Everyone should have one

I have one at home and install it for other people too. After living in a house that was struck by lightning every two years, I was weary of the damage that always followed. I haven't had lightning damage since installing it, so I recommend everyone have some form of surge suppression around the house. Everything now has computer chips and circuit boards and lots of stuff you wouldn't even think to put in it. The overvoltage protection is switched on, that doesn't work. Cooker or Dryer - 240V Equipment Do you have a 240V 50A surge protection strap for these IC equipment? Of course not, which is why you need a whole-house surge protector. Even your toaster and coffee pot have a chip. You need this surge protector! This is your first line of defense. To install this surge protector, open the panel and check which side is easiest to install and closest to the main switch. If there is no space, you can make space by buying 2 tandem switches and replacing the 4 single pole switches with 2 tandem switches. This gives you 2 slots to install a surge protector. Once you slide the switches down one side of the panel and/or install 2 tandems, the switch will snap into place. There is a white wire coming from the switch that connects to the neutral bar. Plug the white wire into the neutral bar, put on the cap, and you're done. The default setup time is 10 minutes. If you are uncomfortable working in the panel and/or are inexperienced with the LIVE panel, contact an electrician to do the work for you. This switch is only suitable for Square D QO panels. If you have a Square D Homeline panel you'll want to buy the HOM2175SB instead of the QO2175SB.
