I like the idea of using less plastic. So I committed to using the shower/shampoo and getting rid of the bottles. As a functional replacement, this is a perfectly viable solution - I have absolutely no need for a special soap or shampoo (I gave up body gels long ago after a very brief experiment). But. enough for a month's use or 30 washes. That's a far cry from the advertised 175 washes. I've gone through two cycles and the results are consistent. As a consumer, it's hard to justify spending that much when a $5 bottle of shampoo conditioner lasts for months, while a regular bar of soap costs about $0.50 and also lasts for months. Roughly speaking, the thing costs 4 times more than soap and a bottle of shampoo. If the production costs are anything like that, it might not be good for the environment either. Will try other brands to see if they are more economical/last longer.
