I like the idea of using less plastic. So I committed to using the shower/shampoo and getting rid of the bottles. As a functional replacement, this is a perfectly viable solution - I have absolutely no need for a special soap or shampoo (I gave up body gels long ago after a very brief experiment). But. enough for a month's use or 30 washes. That's a far cry from the advertised 175 washes. I've gone through two cycles and the results are consistent. As a consumer, it's hard to justify spending…

Expensive but worth it

Lately I've been trying to use as little plastic as possible and I'm very loyal to my Duke Cannon natural charcoal deodorant and I need shampoo for my duffel bag, it was small and lung. So I spent $18 on soap and a metal can, but hey, I literally can't complain. It's wonderful, it smells nice and I can close the jar after use (I hardly use it - this stuff makes my very long hair lather up a bit) and toss it back in my gym bag. I was expecting to sacrifice a bit on the quality of my homemade…

Def worth it in hair care

This is the second time we have purchased these shampoo choices for my home. The husband loves his and the son too. It foams very well and thick. My only personal doubt is that this is a very clean wash. It's like I need air conditioning with it. (I have long straight hair and it feels tangled after washing.) Then I use conditioner and take care of it. I like the jar it comes in. Husband wished he could come with the conditioner or buy it separately but I haven't seen it for this shampoo yet…

So far, so good. UPDATE

Update - Purchased in July, just finishing it. Average 3-4 uses per week, total about 70-75 uses. I still love the product and the scent. As we speak, I'm using a new washing machine. I've been using this washing machine since July. I have a short military style haircut and I shampoo my hair 4-5 times a week. I don't need a lot of shampoo. However, this puck (Barrel Char No. 004) smells good (outdoors) and gets strong. I guess I'll still be using the same puck in November or December. Some may…

Great product (so far)

I wanted to try something different, more sustainable than normal bottle shampoo and would save space in the shower. So far my experience has been great. The smell is amazing and my hair is happy (I have very thick wavy hair). My only complaint so far (after almost a month of daily use) is that there were no storage instructions on the packaging. I contacted Duke Cannon and they basically said to keep it. I keep mine in an open-topped jar in the shower and then use the bottom half in the washer

A little foam in your hands goes a long way.

Great product. Smells nice and lasts forever. Keep it in a container with some wax paper on the bottom for you to remove in the morning. Leave the lid ajar to allow the soap to dry. At this level of maintenance, the puck lasts six months. DO NOT touch your head with the puck. Apply some foam to your hand and run your hands through your hair. It is very easy to get in the eyes and the after-effect is much worse than other bar soaps. Hence the four stars.

Pros
  • Hands free
Cons
  • Makes me angry
