I used a twilight adapter with a small bulb in my pole mounted light. The bulbs never lasted long, the adapters were bulky and very slow. The bulbs are much better - energy efficient LEDs, look better than frosted bulbs and have a built in dimmer switch. They work so fast I put one on the porch light, which is usually off unless I'm late. I can turn it on at night and it will light up in a second, or leave it on and it stays off during the day. I don't know how long these lamps will last, but so far I'm very happy with them.
