A month ago my insurance company and I spent an obscene amount of money on custom orthotics to relieve arthritis pain. They worked very well. Then I had to work in the yard after heavy rains. I looked in the back of my closet and found some very old, worn New Balance sneakers that I wasn't afraid of getting dirty. After a few hours of outdoor work, they felt very comfortable, even though I wasn't wearing orthotics, so I cleaned them up and put them on indoors. They were better than orthotics! I decided to buy a new pair of New Balance shoes and the customer service representative suggested that this model was very similar to what I had before. New shoes cost less than 10% of the cost of orthotics alone (not to mention the cost of orthopedic visits). wear almost everywhere. I wish they were brown too so I have a more complete New Balance shoe wardrobe! A NOTICE. I noticed that the old shoes were half a size larger than I normally wear, so I ordered new shoes in the same size. They fit very well.
