Review on Carlson Maxi Extra Tall Pet Gate: Expands from 51-58 Inches Wide for Ultimate Safety and Convenience by Jennifer Lyon

The product description on Revain is weak so I went to the Carlson website for more information and the product description when I read it clearly stated that this gate is for a 37 bis opening 60 inch would fit me which was perfect. When the product arrived I quickly realized, like others who reviewed this product, that it was wrong and I couldn't use this product. So I called Carlson and immediately found a real person (no phone tree) who offered to help me, which they did (without referring me to anyone else). They apologized that their marketing materials were incorrect and they now recommend this product for openings 60 inches or larger. It's sad they haven't fixed this yet as other reviews have said this has been misleading for months. In any event, she offered me a replacement product (an extra tall gate) with the correct extensions to fit my opening. He arrived two days later. So, in my book, great customer service. Regarding the product itself, some of the following apply to one product or the other, or both. I find metal gates to be sturdy, unlike some of the wooden gates I've used. As others have noted, the gate opening is narrow (16 inches) and I have to sideways a bit to get through. The gate latch must be opened and closed manually; The latter is annoying as you can't just push and lock the gate. The design of the latch also limits the door from opening in only one direction. I think it should be possible to make it auto-commit both ways. The cat door is useless to me so I wanted them to offer the door without it as it would probably be cheaper. Extra Tall Walk-Thru Doors are pressurized but can be secured with screw-in wall brackets. If you decide to use wall mugs, I suggest you try them with a simple clip-on mount first. This gives you the ability to use the door and ensure it works best for you. This makes it easy for you to later know where to put the cups if you decide to do so. I give the product itself 4 stars for the above reasons. I would give more than 5 stars for customer service and 1 star for marketing for the unclear product description and worse for not correcting the information many months later.
