I've been using this for a few weeks now and it really raises the pH of my tap water. I tested it with PH drops and before filtering my water is 7 PH and after filtering 9. The water tastes great and is compact enough to fit on my counter or fridge in my New York studio. It is definitely advisable to follow the instructions in the manual and soak the filter before use and pour out the first two pitchers of water before use. This is important as it will remove the embers on the filter. Inexpensive pitcher and perfect for my needs.
