It makes sense to remove the adhesive from the back of the light strip. These connectors are designed to work with waterproof RGB 5050 LED strips. Therefore, when using these connectors, do not remove the silicone covering the light strip. After cutting the lightstrip along the cut line, remove the adhesive from the back of the lightstrip around the cut line to reveal the 4 copper pins on the back of the lightstrip. It is helpful to ensure that the 4 pins in the connectors go through the 4 copper pins on the LED strip to ensure good electrical conductivity.
