Review on Thermometer Ftaxiv Backlight Calibration Rotisserie by Jacqueline Jenkins

Revainrating 5 out of 5

For the price, I'm very impressed

I've used a $100 Thermoworks thermometer (the one recommended by American Testing Kitchen) for years. Seeing all these under $20 fakes made me very curious because I wanted a thermometer with a separate sensor. The price convinced me! I thought nothing beats Thermoworks. This "Ftaxiv" thermometer takes an extra second to register the temperature and instead of increments of 0.1°F, it jumps every 0.2°F. However, right out of the box it is very accurate and reads exactly like my Thermoworks (see photo). Thermoworks goes through a calibration certification and this "Ftaxiv" basically matches Thermoworks right out of the box. Ftaxiv doesn't seem to be as reliable as my Thermoworks. I won't lie - it feels cheaper. It's lighter and the plastic isn't as strong. However, it's a lot cheaper and do I really need another incredibly expensive thermometer when I can buy 6-7 of them for the same price? when i bought it. This key allows you to easily open the battery compartment without damaging the plastic, which I did with a quarter on my Thermoworks. I definitely recommend it. Update: Lots of effort and love for the external probe. If I have one complaint, it is that it times out and turns off automatically after 10-15 minutes. Nothing really bad and I still like it.

Pros
  • Instant Reading and Accuracy: It only takes 2-3 seconds to read a food thermometer. Press the ℉/℃ button to switch the temperature between Celsius and Fahrenheit, accuracy (+/-1°C) and wide range (-58°F~572°F). Say goodbye to overcooked or undercooked food.
