I take off the extra ring.
Nice collar, nice thick. However, you need to spend a little more time decorating the clasp. The additional reinforcement ring only bent after a month. My old man got a nasty cut on his leg from him. Update * I got another one, I already removed the reinforcement ring. It's not necessary and my dog loves these collars (sounds crazy but Noodle really loves them, actually cries when you take them off). This time I got army green
