I use this tachometer primarily for testing and repairing small engines (2 and 4 stroke) when my optical tachometer is not practical. I've used it a few times on V6 car engines. It worked well in all cases. I also found it significantly more accurate than other similarly designed devices. In fact, I returned a much cheaper model from another manufacturer due to unstable and inaccurate readings. So far the TA100 seems to be inaccurate and the kV peak voltage function can provide some information when troubleshooting. The case is plastic and unfortunately uses a cheaper "live" hinge instead of a hinge and can crack over time.
