Does this trick work with household fans

Excellent airflow. I have a wood stove at one end of my house and I installed this fan to better distribute the heat to the other end - it works great. I gave it 4 stars because it is non-reversible which means that depending on the side of the doorway you mount the fan the cord may come out of the block at the top of the door jamb and not the bottom as shown in the picture. Also, we use a fan in the door next to the living room and need to turn the TV up a few notches to compensate for the extra noise.
