I've looked at the posts on things that need to be checked to make sure it's a genuine product made in Japan. The verification certificate is original from Mitutoyo Corporation. The inspector's name is kanji-like (Japanese). The warranty has a Japanese service address. It is certified according to ISO 17043. The "absolute" zero adjustment works immediately after commissioning if you follow the instructions. The comparative measurement and absolute measurement functions work as advertised. With known values I can compare, the accuracy is better than what I can dispute. I rarely need the accuracy of this tool, but it is so much fun to own.
