I was able to cut the hose to the length I wanted and the installation was easy. When I started the wash cycle, the water spread all over the garage floor. Luckily it was in the garage and not in the house. I found that the hose clamp that came with the hose was too big for the size of the fitting I cut to fit the washing machine drain pipe so it didn't fit well. I had to run to the nearest hardware store to buy a smaller clamp. This fixed the leak and so far everything is working fine. The clamp provided may fit larger fittings, but for smaller fittings purchase a #12 clamp to ensure a good seal.
