Unreliable for monitoring leaks remotely

I bought a leak detector and it has worked flawlessly for several weeks. After a few weeks I got N/C on the wet/dry gauge. When this happened I reset the sensor and a few weeks later the same thing happened. So I bought a new sensor, thinking the previous one was defective. This sensor does the same. If you're buying this to remotely monitor your basement for water leaks, go with another provider ASAP. And worse, the tech support is completely useless. I tried to contact them 3 times with no…

Incredibly expensive sensor, didn't work

I use another LaCrosse sensor (and its $12/year service) to monitor the temperature at my vacation home in the winter and it works fine, though I agree with other reviewers that the customer support is lousy/nonexistent and the subscription renewal process is very annoying. never worked properly. Even when the sensor indicated the probe was dry, online reports continued to report it as "wet," which was kind of off target. I'm not sure if it's a hardware issue or a communication issue with the…

Works well, didn't break

I have several sensors in three different houses. I monitor temperature, humidity and wet/dry areas. Sometimes they are difficult to set up and customer support is almost non-existent. But for the money and a bit of patience they are great, have always worked for me for the past six years. Just put one in my AC pan to monitor the wet spot. If water gets into the second pan, I get a pretty quick notification on my phone about the AC overflow issue. A real peace of mind for around $26 for a…

Quick notification of water or temperature problems at home.

This works well and gives you peace of mind when you're not home to check the basement for signs of water. The temperature display also warns you if the stove is not working in winter and the temperature drops. The first sensor falsely reported wet after a few days of use. It was sent back to Revain and a replacement was quickly sent (before the return was sent). Month already installed, everything is fine. You can set up email alerts and check status online. Ours is connected to a gateway and…

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • Not bad

Definitely the cheapest moisture meter I've ever picked up. $11 a year for a sensor alert seems a bit pricey for email alerts. If it was $11 a year for a house, it wouldn't be hard. I bought two wet/dry moisture meters and two regular moisture meters. I had a heck of a time for one of the wet and dry sensors to stay online (lots of sensor and gateway resets before it became stable), but it's been fine ever since. If you don't want to set up zwave/smartthings, this is a good way to get started…

Best of unreliable household sensors and alarms

I had high hopes for this solution. I am an electrical engineer and very tech savvy and have installed two temperature detectors and one H2O detector in my cabin 3 hours away. Over the next two months, I had several annoying problems. All three units disappeared after about a week. I replaced the batteries on my next visit to fix them and they started working again. This is my second set of fresh batteries in two months. A few days after changing the battery I got a WET alarm from my basement…

Good monitors for potential water problems

I bought these to alert myself to possible water problems in the water heater and sump pumps. They are added to the temperature sensors I have in my fridge and freezer. All notifications are sent to a mobile app where I can set alert thresholds and receive notifications via SMS, email, or both. They are a small packaging unit with a sufficient length of the sensor cable. One of the two devices was having major trouble connecting, so I called customer service late Friday night. The guy I worked…

You have to pay for basic alerts for each installed sensor.

I had very high expectations for this product but was ultimately disappointed to find out that the post-trial monthly fee is per sensor. Such as: 1. Body and email notification2. The device maintained a good connection with the sensors. I was pleasantly surprised as they are on two different floors. Dislikes: 1. You can only enter email address and phone number to send notification. Tech support says they can add more. I assume almost all of the people buying this are family members and both…

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Vulgarity

Good product, good but slow customer service

I wrote a review on the complete kit that included the gateway. You need a gateway for this sensor to work. This review is for an additional sensor that I purchased. In general this is a good system. It is easy to set up and easily accessible over the internet. I've been using the system for over a month. I set up a report every 5 minutes. The data is easy to load into Excel where, playing with the data, I have seen that the vast majority of updates are at 5 minute intervals, with several 10…
