I have a 2001 Monte Carlo with a radio that uses an external amplifier. My radio lost all sound and there was no beep when the door was ajar and the key was in the ignition or when the warning lights were on etc. I checked the radio output, checked the power and ground at the external amplifier and found the amplifier defective was. I did some research and found that it's not really an amp that takes line level input, it's a power amp that takes speaker level input and just boosts the signal a little bit. Amplifiers are very expensive and it was a great alternative to solve my audio problem. It simply connects the radio's speaker inputs directly to the outputs, bypassing the amplifier. Not as loud as before, but still good and loud enough to hear with the windows closed, with the same output of unamplified GM radios. Installation is as easy as it gets. All you have to do is unplug the amp connector from the amp and plug it into this little guy. A cheap and easy solution to a very annoying problem.
