There is no reason why you should use one side instead of the other. Both sides of the strap are fully reversible. As I've shown, if you're having trouble getting the spring bar out from between your watch's lugs, you may need to lightly and gently nudge it with two sets of needle nose pliers as it comes out. Watch strap only comes with two sets of new spring bars to use two mounts. This way you won't damage the watch. My spring bars would not come loose with the tool provided or any other tool because the spring bars that came with my watch originally did not come with ridges that would allow the tool to retract the ends of the spring.
