replace plastic? Read it!
If you are replacing an existing plastic with this metal, be aware that alignment is more important with this than with plastic. In other words, if you're hoping to use the same mounting holes on the door and trailer, you might be disappointed because the latch might not line up. The plastic ones are more flexible and don't need perfect alignment like these. So you may need to drill new holes or bend the latch like I did (I don't need extra holes in my trailer). Knowing this now, I would go to plastic like I used to. Although it looks well made.
