I purchased an 18 gauge 8mm Rook piercing and was delighted to see how easy it was to open the jewelry and insert it into myself. It was a perfect fit and looked so cute. However, the tiny hinge and clasp started giving problems after two days. The hinge or clasp kept going into the piercing and getting stuck and/or leaving tiny lacerations on the piercing I think. It quickly began to become infected, although after trying on jewelry and taking proper care of the piercing, it sterilized everything. I've had this piercing for 11 years using the same "Ball Hoop" jewelry and have never felt any pain or infection before.
