In my experience they were a bit quieter than Tetra pumps. I have 10 and 20. Smaller and more vertical support with thick rubber bottom and feet to reduce vibration and noise. The built in check valve is something they could all easily offer (actually should be for the safety of new hobbyists) and they are actually serviceable. It appears to be a popular design from 30 years ago that has resurged in recent years. In 2020, they rarely make it easy to figure out what you're buying. Pumps can get louder over time, which can sometimes be fixed with a simple screwdriver. They're not expensive, but some people still choose to fix what's broken in our throwaway society. Tetra pumps are good but for now I prefer the cheap pump. And I love supporting the Wisconsin Company. Which I didn't even know at the time of purchase.
