Review on ๐Ÿ๏ธ Enhanced Kuryakyn 5209 Momentum Outrider Expandable Motorcycle Travel Luggage: Durable Weatherproof Throw-Over Saddlebags, in Sleek Black by Brandon Carr

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Not as normal Kuryakin quality as I expected.

I bought these bags for my own Sturgis chopper; My first impression of them was very good. They are spacious, durable and look very nice. They come with nice rain covers, 3 pairs of webbing straps with different connection functions and a wide velcro strap. All this allows you to adapt them to most bikes. Although the description says they don't require any support brackets or hardware, I made the supports out of rectangular aluminum that I strapped through the top D-rings on each bag to prevent them from moving from side to side . Luckily, I also ran a second strap on each bag to each rear bottom D-ring to keep them from wobbling and provide extra stability. I expanded them and filled them before the trip. As I entered Pierre, 400 miles from my 640 mile ride, a strange noise began to come from behind my bike. As in one of the answers to questions, the left side pocket was unfastened from the yoke and dragged across the floor. Luckily the straps held it in place and since I tied my duffel bag over the yoke the correct bag stayed in place. but the one on the left was badly damaged. I buckled my bag back on and continued my journey; Shortly thereafter, when attempting to unzip the right pocket after accessing the main flap, the interior zip came loose. I threaded a strap through the opening to provide support and keep the contents in place until the end of the trip. When I got to the rally I removed the pockets, I was able to unzip and snap it back in place so it was functional again and has worked flawlessly ever since. For my return trip, I reinstalled the same way, except as an added security measure, I attached a third pair of straps over my fender and D-ring to each bag to keep the bags from opening. This turned out to be a good idea because as I pulled into the driveway of my house, the right side pocket suddenly detached from the yoke. this time. The zipper detaching from access may be an accident, but since there was another answer above for opening the yoke zipper and it happened to me twice, I think it's a design flaw. I recommend adding something to prevent the yoke zippers from moving unintentionally. While the handle at the top is handy, I think that since it's attached to the opening flap and not the main structure of the bag, it can cause the zippers on the flap to fail prematurely. As a final note, the front pockets are best placed on top of the bag opposite of their current location and the water bottle pocket on the other side (not the throttle side) so it is accessible while riding.
