We bought this for our daughter who was traveling in Southeast Asia to use as a daily backpack. It is very light, thin and a little flimsy, so it can be easily rolled up and put in a large backpack. While I wouldn't recommend subjecting him to physical abuse, she enjoyed the convenience of locking her large backpack in dormitories and using the backpack while sightseeing. Note that unless the fabric was light and thin enough to fit in a small pocket, it would serve no purpose.
