This pad will not scratch plastic on cook top filters or aquarium glass which is a great thing. I wish it was a little more aggressive because even with some serious elbow grease it does a mediocre job. I've found it stays clean if I use it once a week, but if you want to remove stubborn algae stains, an old credit card works best. I've tried razor blades and they will scratch glass unless the edges are perfectly flat and obviously aren't used on panels. Removing algae is just a pain, but I've found that weekly or fortnightly scrubbing with this pad gives good results. I don't have a lot of algae but I have a fully planted aquarium, farms and an LED grow light and the algae think it's a thriving environment.
