To program a CM7X controller with firmware 2017 or later, the OP500 must be running the latest firmware, otherwise it is useless for freelance installers or end users who are not at the dealer can register. Visit firstechdata website to download the latest OP500 firmware. ALSO check the listing to see if cables are included. That used to be the case, but recently the OP500 has been packaged WITHOUT a cable in the box. If you have a SHORT antenna cable in your vehicle, you will NOT receive an antenna extension cable, which is required to connect the OP500. This cable is not available to order anywhere that I can find it. (It doesn't even seem to have a part number.) Oddly enough, unless you are an authorized dealer, you CAN find an available USB cable used to update the firmware, although it WILL NOT WORK for you. Not only does Firstech seem to make it extremely difficult for hardware owners to control their own hardware, but it's also extremely frustrating.
