Review on Midwest Hearth Rod Valance Kit by Larkeese Casiano

This is a solid kit but we ran into two problems. The listing implied it would fit chimney openings larger than 30 inches. The skin itself barely fits in the hole, but getting the screws into the bricks was difficult just because the fit was so tight. A more serious problem is that the bars that the screens slide on are so long that they don't fit in the slots in the middle because of the corner. We used a hacksaw to cut out the bars, but it was a bit more work. The second issue is that the instruction illustrations are tiny and don't show what you actually need to do to install the bent end of the poles. in clamps at both ends of the valence.
