This is a good hard drive dock, but I prefer some of the older StarTech models (earlier USB 2.0 models). Keep in mind that this dock has a "soft" power button, meaning it's not a hard switch that stays on. If the power fails or you remove the drive while it's on, the dock won't turn back on unless you press the power button again. OS, but there are problems reading partitions). It only seems to happen with these two specific drives (ST500LM000 and ST500DM002) on this dock, they work fine with a Sabrent SATA adapter or an older StarTech dock. I've put over 50 hard drives (mix of WD, Seagate and Toshiba) in this dock so I think it's just an oddity in the controller firmware.
