Please read this!: Cats

Just got home to collect the ashes of a little girl's beloved cat, Riley, who was strangled with this collar a few days ago. She caught him by the toy and in her attempts to free himself, he was twisted into a knot in just a few minutes while we were in the other room. By the time we found her, it was already too late. No matter how hard she tried, that "tear-off collar" didn't come off like it was supposed to. I bought two of these collars; one for her and one for her sister from the same litter. Of course, I immediately took off her sister's second collar and snapped it shut to see if it would break under the circumstances. Try as I might, it didn't work, so I know it's not just this collar that's dangerous. I have three other cats with different brand breakaway collars and I have tested them and found that when I take them apart they come off just fine. So I have absolutely no doubt that these collars are a dangerous deathtrap. Riley was the first experience of bonding a little girl with her beloved pet. She spent every minute she could with her, taking care of her, feeding her and even sleeping together. She is devastated and traumatized and will need a lot of nurturing and guidance to cope with her grief. My advice to anyone thinking of buying these collars, please don't. If your cat wears it, take it off and throw it away immediately.
