Fan noise is unbearable out of the box

My biggest issues with this one day laptop: 1. Out of the box fan noise was terrible. It took me a while to fix it (about 2 hours).2. I would have thought that an 8th Gen Intel i7 processor would offer much faster speeds. Not much.3. When they contacted Dell's online customer support, their first "solution" was to ship the unit directly back to Dell for a fan replacement! (The 'fix' is to navigate to windows boot, go to the Dell Update tab and install the new BIOS update. Looks like it worked for now.) Other than that, it's not that bad . Haven't decided yet if I'll keep it. For the price I paid there could be cheaper laptops with the same features without having to spend 3-4 hours trying to figure it out. UPDATE 12/1/18 - Okay. Now that I've tweaked my settings, this laptop works much better. I upgraded to 4 stars. The fan noise is gone. The i7 processor works better. The touchpad is not compatible. Even on the lowest (softest?) touch settings, I had to double-tap many times. Nothing bad, but a bit annoying. I will keep this laptop. This is a good mid-range buy. Hope it lasts a few years. INSTALL DELL UPDATES ON THE WINDOWS SCREEN FIRST. Save yourself the hassle. :)
